1-Hour Rolls

I usually make Potato Rolls. We just love that recipe so much. The only problem is they take longer. If we ever are in a little more of a hurry we will make these 1-Hour Rolls. Still light, still fluffy, still delicious and they only take an hour!

1-Hour Rolls

If you're looking for the fresh taste of homemade goodness but don't have the time to spend with your favorite bread recipe, this is the recipe for you! Still soft, warm and perfect alongside any meal!


  • Recipe From an old Cooking Textbook of mine
  • 1 1/4 Cup Milk, Scalded
  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 2 Eggs, Beaten
  • 1 Tablespoon Rounded Yeast + 1/2 Ts Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Warm Water
  • 4 Cups Flour, plus more for kneading and surface


  1. Sprinkle the yeast and sugar over the warm water.
  2. Melt the butter in the scalded milk. Cool until luke warm.
  3. Add eggs, 3 Tablespoons sugar, salt and dissolved yeast to a bowl.
  4. Mix in the cooled butter/milk mixture.
  5. Add in the flour and stir to combine.
  6. Knead the dough on a heavily floured surface until smooth.
  7. Roll out and shape into rolls. I like to just pinch mine into balls or cut into strips and tie in knots.
  8. Bake 10-12 min at 400.
