My friend Kristin gave me this recipe & I’ll never make a traditional pie crust again!! This is the easiest pie crust you will ever make–and it turns out perfect every time! I use this crust for sweet and savory pies. I like to add Parmesan cheese and some herbs then use it with pot pies. Or try adding cinnamon & cloves for an apple pie. Be creative and enjoy!
Kristin’s Magic Pie Crust
makes 2
3 C flour
1 1/4 C Crisco
1 tsp salt
Cut together until it looks like corn meal. Then, in a 1 cup measuring cup, combine 1 egg (slightly beaten), and 1 tsp apple cider vinegar. Fill the rest of the cup with cold water. Combine the wet and dry ingredients & stir with a fork until combined. Then use your hands to clump the dough together in a ball. Divide in half & roll out. Once it is rolled out to the right size, I like to fold it in half and then in half the other way. Then you can pick it up & put it in the pie dish, and unfold it. (Make sure your your pie dish is greased and floured). Trim the edges to a uniform length, slightly larger than the pie dish. Pinch the dough between your fingers to form a zig-zag. Use a fork to poke holes throughout the bottom and sides of the crust. Bake according the directions for your particular pie.
