We don’t know anyone who doesn’t love these ham and cheese sliders with poppy seed dressing. This recipe is perfect for using up leftover ham!

Baked Ham and Cheese Sliders
Every now and again I come across a recipe that is so good I have no choice but to immediately make it and post about it. We made a few tiny adaptations to these hawaiian ham and cheese sliders (aka funeral sandwiches), but it only makes them even better.
Got leftover holiday ham? We’ve got you covered.
These Hawaiian roll sliders were adapted from one of the sweetest bloggers and friend that I know, Christy from The Girl Who Ate Everything. If you have yet to check out her blog, get over there. It is full of just about every delicious recipe out there and I love that it’s all approachable.
Our version of the baked ham and cheese sliders with poppy seed dressing skips on the onions and uses our famous honey mustard instead of regular jarred stuff. It’s a simple change but trust me, it takes everything to a whole new level of deliciousness. These ham sliders are a forever staple in our home for using up leftover ham, and to be honest we will probably be bringing them to potlucks all year too.
They are just so easy and yet total comfort food. I can’t wait for you all to try them! Especially if you still have company in town or if you’re already thinking up ideas for that big Super Bowl party. Can’t you just see the guests all digging into a huge pan of these babies?!

Ham and Cheese Sliders Ingredients
The ingredients list for these Hawaiian roll sliders are short and sweet, which is another reason why we love making them! Here’s what we used in these Hawaiian ham and cheese sliders:
- Mayonnaise
- Honey
- Mustard
- Poppy seeds
- Melted butter
- Worcestershire sauce
- White rolls (such as Hawaiian rolls)
- Ham
- White cheddar cheese

How to Make Ham and Cheese Sliders
These baked ham and cheese sliders couldn’t be simpler to make! Make a single batch for a small crowd, or double the recipe if you’re having more guests over.
Here’s how we make these Hawaiian roll sliders:
- Whisk together the honey mustard in a bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the homemade poppy seed dressing.
- To assemble the sliders, first slice each roll in half.
- Spread homemade honey mustard on the bottom of each roll and mayo on the top.
- Place a slice of ham and cheese in the middle of each roll.
- Place the sliders into a cookie sheet or cake pan (use one that has sides).
- Drizzle with poppy seed dressing, then cover the pan with foil.
- Bake until the cheese is melted, then drizzle with extra dressing.

Can I Use Another Type of Cheese?
Absolutely! We prefer using white cheddar cheese, but we’ve seen this recipe made as ham and Swiss sliders as well. Use whichever cheese you prefer.
Can you Freeze Ham and Cheese Sliders?
Strangely enough, you can freeze ham and cheese sliders, but make sure you don’t add the poppy seed dressing until you’re ready to bake them.
Make sure you wrap the dish in plastic wrap and then freezer foil. Defrost by setting them in the fridge and proceeding as normal. You need to keep out as much ice as possible so make sure that plastic wrap is on there as close to the rolls as possible and only freeze for up to 2 weeks. Any longer and too much ice will grow.

Tips for Making Ham and Cheese Sliders
We typically use plain yellow mustard in these funeral sandwiches, but you’re welcome to use any mustard you like. You may want to make a small batch of honey mustard with your choice of mustard, just to make sure you like the flavor combination!
These ham and cheese sliders are quite rich, so we’ve found that using a single slice of ham and cheese is plenty. But feel free to add more slices to suit your own tastes.
You can bake these Hawaiian roll sliders in a baking dish, cake pan, or baking sheet — as long as whatever you’re using has sides, it should work well.

Hi! Do you know the amount of ham and cheese in pounds per 24 rolls? Thanks!
Hi Jenn! It is about 1 pound of ham and 1 pound of cheese for 24 rolls.
Question on your nutrition info: 1 serving is 1g?? Or one sandwich?
Hey Toni! Great question! I’m not sure why it is saying 1 serving is 1g. 1 serving is one slider for this recipe. Thanks for the question!
can’t wait to try this recipe! i’ve tried other recipes from you and they’ve all been such a hit!
just one question though, did you use unsalted or salted butter?
Great question! Unsalted…the ham should have plenty of saltiness for these sliders! Enjoy!! And thanks for the support!
