If you like it then you better put a twix in it… I’m pretty sure that’s the popular song by Beyonce right? It sounds a lot better to me, especially around this time a year when candy seems to be popping out of everyone’s ears! And since Twix was my favorite as a kid, well that and Milky Way, and since carmelitas are one of our favorite desserts we couldn’t resist putting them together for the ultimate Twix Carmelitas.

And who wouldn’t want to stick an awesome candy bar in their dessert? I love to do it if we have to go out for ice cream. Yes, it freezes it a bit but for some reason I just love it! It’s so blasted yummy.

The original carmelitas are pretty fantastic on their own, and once I created this recipe my mind started racing with all of the other Twix possibilities so now you all have a lot of crazy desserts to look forward to. And the chocolate bars make them extra melty versus chocolate chips that don’t run as much. YUM! Cannot wait to experiment! If I can keep my grubby mitts out of the bag of course. Oh, Twix how I love thee.

I just made these and it’s a burnt soup mixture. It seems like there’s way too much butter and not enough dry mix. I hope they still taste good but I’m not sure they’ll even harden up enough to cut

    1. Sweet Basil says:

What part is a soup mixture? The crust or the caramels? The crust should be firm and pressed into the pan, then the chocolate and caramel are placed on top.

  2. Elana says:

    Hi,
What are caramels? Are they just a bag of caramel lollies?

    Thank you.

    1. Sweet Basil says:

Just the caramel squares you can buy in any grocery store. 🙂

  3. Patricia Jones says:

Made these for my work, and they raved over them, they were so easy to make and one of the best things i made! Thanks for the recipe!

    1. Sweet Basil says:

Patricia, thank you for taking the time to come back and comment! I’m so thrilled they loved them!

  4. Venita says:

What kind of chocalate do you recommend?

    1. Sweet Basil says:

milk chocolate is usually what we use, but semi sweet it good too.

  5. Shelby says:

As far as the brown sugar goes, would I use dark or light? Hoping to make these tomorrow, they look delicious! 🙂

    1. Sweet Basil says:

light brown sugar, but you could use either and it would just be more rich tasting:)

  7. Simoney says:

I made these for Thanksgiving and now everyone in the family is texting me for the recipe! Amazing!

  8. tricia says:

I need to make this for about 25 people. Would I just double the recipe and put it in a 9×13 pan??

    1. Sweet Basil says:

I would probably make 2 9×13 pans of the dessert, and yes just double it. 🙂

  9. Lina says:

My flour/oat mixture came out really wet and didn’t bake right…(soupy but burnt)….any suggestions?

    1. Sweet Basil says:

Lina, I’m so sorry to hear that. If anything it should be more on the dry side. Was the butter really hot? That can definitely mess with things.

      1. Lina says:

That’s probably it…I’ll try again. These look too good to throw in the towel just yet! Thanks!!

      2. Sweet Basil says:

Oh, do not give up! They are so awesome!

  10. Terri says:

My Carmelita recipe calls for jarred caramel topping, mixed with a small amount of flour to thicken. Is there a way to use that in this recipe rather than the individual caramels? These look amazing!

    1. Sweet Basil says:

You absolutely could do that. I just like the thicker caramel sauce from the wrapped caramels but maybe yours gets that way with the flour. I say go for it!

      1. Meemz says:

        Hello,

Can you please tell me in oz or grams the amount of chocolate bars and Twix please? I live in the United Arab Emirates and things can vary greatly in regards to products. Thank you.

      2. Sweet Basil says:

Hello! You will want about 7.75oz of chocolate bars and about 3.5-4oz of Twix candy bars.
