It’s not fall until you’ve made apple pie bombs a la mode with creamy vanilla ice cream and glazed apples all over the tops. I love fall dessert recipes!

What Apples Are Best For Apple Pie?

The best apples for baking keep their structure, which keeps the chunks of fruit from turning into bland pockets of apple mush after spending some time in the oven.

Granny Smith apples are generally our go-to baking apple, but here are six others that bake well: Jonagold, Honeycrisp, Braeburn, Mutsu, Winesap, and Pink Lady.

In one day I made more fried food than I even care to admit. It was bad. But, I hate getting a pan of oil going on the stove so when I fry recipes for the site I like to slam it all out in a couple days of testing so that I can get as money things done in one batch of oil as possible. And it’s hot out which was adding to the nasty while I stood in the kitchen and fried food. I seriously think I was sweating oil by the end of it. So technically you all owe me because these apple pie bombs a la mode that were inspired by a recipe I did for Pillsbury were to die for and now you all can enjoy them too.

But really, you guys should pin the heck out of it as a thank you. 🙂 Just kidding.

Can Apple Pie Bombs Be Left Out Overnight?

These apple pie bombs can be kept covered with plastic wrap or foil at room temperature for up to two days. After that, they can be stored in the refrigerator for two more days.

They really are so good and anything that is served a la mode style is Cade’s favorite so he was happy to offer up a little foot massage to show his appreciation. And while he rubbed my feet we struck up a little conversation about ice cream. I’m probably the wrong person to talk to about ice cream because I’m not at all an expert like Cade is, but we were chatting about what the best vanilla is. Is it french, slow churned, Tillamook, Kirkland, Custard, or homestyle? What do you all think?

What Oil Is Best For Deep Frying?

Canola oil and peanut oil are the best oils for deep frying because of their high smoke points-meaning they can reach a higher temperature before they smoke.

Cheney family close up with characters

And while we are talking fall things, check out the awesomeness that we just discovered. Yes, I know we live in Lehi and everyone has loved on Cornbelly’s for ages, but we weren’t sure if it was really worth it. Well we had the opportunity to hop on a helicopter before the work day began and tour over Thanksgiving Point and Cornbelly’s and guys, it’s awesome!

It was so fun for our little one to meet the Tin Man and Dorothy and don’t worry they are totally pulling out a fun event in a couple of weeks that you’ll for sure want to be a part of. Stay tuned for more info, but in the meantime, at least mark your calendars for :

Everything is so clean and well kept and most of all fun. See the yellow? That’s an actual jumping thingy! It’s all full of air and the kids jump on it. And see off to the right, the big huge rocking chair?

CORNBELLYS

Isn’t the maze amazing?! How can Brett, the founder do such an amazing job?! We cannot wait to go with the whole family and if you see us there, please say hello!!

On October 16, 2019 you provided Ghazale a link to your Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe. How many biscuits does the Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe make as the Pillsbury Grand Biscuit makes 8 biscuits?

    1. Sweet Basil says:

Hi Robbie! The buttermilk biscuit recipe makes 12 biscuits.

  2. ROBBIE says:

On Aug 25, 2018 you mentioned to Kerri ann that you used Pillsbury Grad Refrigerated Biscuits which has 8 biscuits.
In the Ingredients you state: 1 can biscuits, each circle pressed out and cut in 4 pieces and in Step 4 you say to put apple onto a flattened piece of biscuit. Therefore, if the can has 8 biscuits and you’re cutting each biscuit into 4 pieces, does that mean we should have 32 Apple Pie Bombs?
Also, would we be able to Air Fry the Apple Pie Bombs instead of Deep Frying? If so, what temperatures and how long?
Thank you in advance for sharing ALL your DELICIOUS recipes.

    1. Sweet Basil says:

Hi Robbie! Have you watched the video in the post? That will show you how the apple pie bombs look with one whole biscuit used. You can honestly use as much or as little dough as you want depending on how big your apple pieces are or how bready you want your pie bombs.
You can definitely air fry them. Go with 350 degrees for 8-9 minutes.

      1. ROBBIE says:

I can’t seem to find the video to watch how the Apple Pie Bombs are made. I would appreciate it very much if you could attach the link for me to watch the Video.

Hi there! I’m so sorry about this! I literally just watched it the other day when I responded to your question. And now it is not there. We are in the middle of switching ad networks so we are working a few kinks out. Unfortunately, our videos is one of those kinks. If you are on Facebook, you can watch the video here: https://fb.watch/jSO1QVbcS_/. If not, then bear with us until we get the video back up and running correctly.

  3. Ghazale says:

Could you pls give me a good recipe for biscuit dough ? Or a related link?

  4. Diane says:

I’d love to make these, but I don’t use pre-made dough, and I don’t have a microwave. So … can you suggest any adjustments? Especially a dough recipe that would work? Thanks!!!

    1. Sweet Basil says:

Hi Diane! Any dough recipe will work great…bread dough, cinnamon roll dough, biscuit dough. Here is a link to our cinnamon roll dough recipe: https://ohsweetbasil.com/worlds-best-cinnamon-rolls-recipe/
For the apples, you can just cook them on the stove top in a low sauce pan.

  5. Debbie says:

Do you have to fry these! I have a donut pan that I’d love to try this out in.
