Crispy, flaky, creamy, spicy… these Buffalo Chicken Phyllo Rolls have it all!

Crispy, flaky, creamy, spicy... these Buffalo Chicken Phyllo Rolls have it all!

Hey friends!  Melanie again from Garnish & Glaze.  Today I’m sharing an awesome appetizer recipe that both kids and adults will love!

Confession: I’m not a big fan of watching football.  It’s just too slow and last what seems like eternity… kinda like yoga. I’m more of a fast-pace sports girl. Well, despite my dislike for the game, I’m a big fan of the food served while watching.  Because… APPETIZERS!!!

Crispy, flaky, creamy, spicy... these Buffalo Chicken Phyllo Rolls have it all!

Buffalo hot wings are a Game Day favorite among many so I decided to get creative with the buffalo chicken and bleu cheese combo.  These Buffalo Chicken Phyllo rolls are still just as messy but packed with even more flavor and texture.  Imagine a warm, creamy, spicy chicken and bleu cheese mix all wrapped up in a crisp flaky phyllo shell… yeah, I’m starting to drool too.

Crispy, flaky, creamy, spicy... these Buffalo Chicken Phyllo Rolls have it all!

Since the buffalo hot sauce is mixed with the chicken and cream cheese it’s not as spicy as your typical hot wing, making this a great option for kids… or adults who can’t handle the heat.  I thought it might be too hot for my 2 1/2 year old but she was a big fan of these and kept taking mine. Irresistibly good, I tell ya!  Enjoy!

How Long Will Phyllo Keep in the Refrigerator?

Wrap Phyllo tightly in plastic wrap and it will keep up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.

What is Phyllo Dough Made From?

Phyllo Dough is made from wheat flour, water, corn starch, salt, and canola oil or white vinegar.

Can You Use Phyllo Dough for Egg Rolls?

If you want a lighter, flakier egg roll, you can use phyllo pastry instead of traditional egg roll wrappers.

They will need to be baked instead of deep fried, which actually makes them a little healthier.

Instructions

For the Bleu Cheese Dressing:

  • Mix all dressing ingredients together and then place in the fridge until ready to serve.
1/3 Cup Mayonnaise, 1/3 Cup Milk, 1/3 Cup Sour Cream, 1/3 Cup Bleu Cheese, Salt and Pepper

For the Buffalo Chicken Phyllo Rolls:

  • In a mixing bowl, mix cream cheese, buffalo sauce, and green onions together.
4 Ounces Cream Cheese, 3 Tablespoons Green Onion, 1/4 Cup Buffalo Sauce
  • Mix in the chicken until combined.
    2 Cups Cooked Chicken
  • Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Take a sheet of phyllo dough and lay it on your work surface.
    15 Sheets Phyllo Dough
  • Using a pastry brush, paint lightly with melted butter.
    5 Tablespoons Butter
  • Layer on two more phyllo sheets, buttering each one so you have a stack of three butter phyllo sheets.
  • Cut the stack into four equal rectangles and then spoon about 1 tablespoon chicken mix onto the end of each and then top with 1 teaspoon bleu cheese.
    1/2 Cup Bleu Cheese Crumbles
  • Starting at the end where the mix is, tightly roll up each strip and then set the roll on a baking sheet.
  • Repeat this 4 more times so you end up with 20 rolls. (If you have more chicken mix leftover repeat again as needed or if you have extra dough you can fill it with anything you want... I filled mine with Nutella and it was amazing!!!).
  • Space the rolls about 1 inch apart on the baking sheet and then brush the tops with butter.
  • Bake for 12-14 minutes or until they begin to brown on the edges.
  • Serve warm with Bleu Cheese Dressing for dipping.

Works great with ground turkey and puff pastry dough! So excited to see turn out! We needed an extra 10 minutes to get it crispy! I didn’t have enough dough so I made extra spiced balls. It is the same thing just coated in hot sauce and in ball shape! Came out great! Thanks!

So easy even a child can make! Made one sheet of rolls and accidentally made extra spicy balls! I used puff pastry dough and ground turkey. #gameday #gogiants
